Saguaro National Park West

PART 3 of 4 of a short walk up the Hugh Norris Trail from the west

As we move up toward that saddle ahead, we also look back and now can see substantial upward progress:

 

As we approach the saddle on the crest we see more vegetation, not just because of elevation rise but also because this slope angles away from the sun making whatever moisture falls from the sky more effective in penetrating the soil:

 

Some of the views are just downright pretty:

But we ought to quit gawking and get moving along these very nicely maintained switchbacks:

  

But closer to the crest the vegetation really decorates the path, so gawking is required:

 

As you can see, we are now very near our goal:
