Canyonlands National Park
Island-in-the-Sky B: Shafer Canyon and Green River Overlooks
We stopped at two places where there were signed and improved overlooks.
The one closest to the Island in the Sky entrance waste the Shafer Canyon overlook, here pictured in three photos, scanning from northeast to east to southeast (on the horizons, those are the LaSal mountains in the first two photos, and the Abajo mountains in the third photo, just in case you are wondering):
The next improved and signed overlook we visited was the Green River overlook on the western edge of the Island in the Sky (for orientation, those are the Abajo mountains in the center of the horizon and the Henry mountains on the right part of the horizon):
The main attraction on the Island in the Sky is the Grand View Overlook, which is where we will go next and spend considerable time.
