Arches National Park
1. Park Avenue
Our first stop in Arches National Park was Park Avenue, which is named for its stately walls and colums and does sort of resemble an artist's abstraction of a very big city street dumped into the wilderness.
First the right side of the street:
Then the left with a remarkably balanced rock:
And now we look down the street to its end:
Turning around now allows a view of the La Sal mountains (a serious mountain range with a number of peaks over 12,000 feet above sea level):
After Park Avenue, and fearing the end of daylight, we hurried on to see Delicate Arch and then at a more leisurely pace went to the Devils Garden and Windows areas of the park where we thought the sun would linger longer.
