Any of you who have ever driven Interstate highway 15 through Utah will, no doubt, have seen the offer, either at the offramp before the town of Nephi or of Payson, to take the Mt. Nebo Scenic Loop.
After more than 30 years of seeing and overcoming that temptation, my wife and I succumbed. The result is a determination to come back and climb Mt. Nebo (closer to the Nephi side if in a hurry). The photos on this page were taken closer to the Payson side. The time we chose for this adventure was fall, Sept. 26, on the way home from some very nice family event. Naturally it was a quick trip up and back with no play time.
I think that is why we chose to deviate from the main road, it was our attempt to "play."
The trees played their parts well. They were not at peak color, yet, but quite spectacular whether green or gold or in between. Please enjoy a few of the highlights of our northeasterly approach to Mt. Nebo, coming from the Payson end of the loop.
