Driving from Washington state to New Mexico brings one through the Blue Mountains of Oregon and at the Idaho side of the Oregon-Idaho border there are some nice views of the Snake River.
The first Rest Area in Idaho, from the Oregon side, is situated on a bluff overlooking the river:
There was snow all through Oregon and into half of Idaho as we passed through that state. It had fallen about two days before we came through. We lucked out, weather-wise, another storm, this one with freezing rain, was supposed to follow the night after we came through.
